Executive Director

Born in 1980, Steve is the founder of the Mandarin Learning Center in Beaverton, Oregon. At the age of 13 he developed a deep interest in Mandarin, later traveling abroad to study the language. After returning to the United States, he continued helping students learn Chinese. His books and school curriculum reflect his determination to make Mandarin fun and accessible.

Yoyo is a dedicated educator with formal training in teaching Chinese to students of all ages. Living in Portland, Oregon for nearly a decade, she finds inspiration in the state’s skies and landscapes. She’s eager to connect with new friends interested in learning Chinese and sharing culture in a supportive, engaging environment.

Clara Wang

Clara Wang

Mandarin Instructor

From Henan, China, Clara has been living in the United States for four years. She enjoys baseball, swimming, and golf, and being part of MLC has allowed her to meet new people and make lasting friendships. She looks forward to helping students learn Mandarin while continuing to improve her English.

She can’t wait to share her experiences in China with students and friends here in the U.S.

Marketing Director

A Singaporean rockstar marketer who loves exploring languages and cultures around the world. Her career highlights include planning and participating in events for government bodies and local businesses. In her free time, Elsa is a musician, part-time model, actress, and a gourmet chef specializing in Singapore’s diverse cuisine.

Illustrator

A self-taught artist from southern India, Santhya is a watercolor enthusiast, digital artist, and children’s book illustrator. After time as a software engineer, motherhood helped her rediscover her true passion for art. When not creating, she’s often cooking or chasing after her little one.
